Shradha Mohan Mengshette won Rs 1 crore in the Lucky Grahak Yojana.She is a twenty-year-old girl pursuing electrical engineering from Latur district in Maharashtra .
The scheme was an initiative by the government to increase digital transactions after demonetisation in November 2016. She won the prize money for making a transaction of Rs 1,590 through her RuPay card to pay the monthly EMI of her new mobile phone. Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated Shradha for making the cashless transaction at an event in Nagpur on Thursday.
While Shradha won the first prize , Hardik Kumar from Khambhat (Cambay) in Gujarat bagged the second prize of Rs 50 lakh. The 29-year-old primary school teacher had made a transaction of Rs 1,100 using his RuPay card. While Bharat Singh from the Sherpur village in Uttarakhand won Rs 25 lakh for a transaction of just Rs 100 from his RuPay card. A 33-year-old cloth store owner Shaik Rafi from Telangana won Rs 12 lakh for accepting a payment of Rs 2,000 on his PoS machine.
